Sydney, Australia Spring 2011: Day 6 Arriving at Gold Coast.
After spending a day at Bondi beach, sydney.. we had an early night to prep ourselves for our early flight from Sydney to Gold Coast where we will be meeting Sam! Our flight was REALLY early and we got a cab to take us from our apartment from Bondi to the airport at 5am, really mad rush hahah didnt really wake up in time plus we did some last minute packing, it was really chuck everything in the luggage more than really packing anyway hahahaha 0.0"
Lol we both had the super sleepyhead look, so no photos!
Finally reach gold coast after our horrible hour long flight. We took jetstar and we were seated aaaaaaall the way to the back of the plane and there were a couple of crying babies and all it was pretty horrible. Lots of japanese seated at the back of the plane with us. Fell asleep cos i was so tired but in my sleep i can hear babies crying and chatty japanese talking non stop. OMG kill me.
Yay! we finally got to the Gold Coast Airport, met up with Sam and we took awhile to decide if we wanted to rent a car to get around in gold coast since we'll be heading to a couple of theme parks and it's usually quite a long drive and taxis aren't really cheap in Aussie, so we decided to rent a Kia Cerato Hatchback our time in Gold Coast!

We rented from the car rental company, Budget which was located just outside the gold coast airport customs, rented without insurance cos insurance was like a whole AUD$300 extra which wasn't really necessary i guess.
Lol don't think we'll be sway enough to get into an accident and it's not like we drive like "initial D" anyway.
So yay! OFF WE GO! Set off on the road with our cute little rented hatchback, 3 of us plus 3 of our HUGE suitcases, with google maps to navigate our way to our rented apartment at Surfer's Paradise.
Finally found the apartment after turning around the roads full of holiday apartments at Surfer's Paradise.
So we reached the apartment, the apartment manager showed us around the place, there's a pool, gym & suana facilities.. when i first entered the apartment i wasn't too impressed thou..

But when i really entered the living area of the apartment.. OMG WHAT IS THIS?!?!!?!?

REALLY REALLY REALLY?! HOW AWESOME IS THE VIEW?!

Really WOW-ed me.
Took the sofa bed so this was my view that greets me every morning when i wake up in the by the way. The sounds of waves crashing.. clear blue sky and the beautiful coast. How perfect is that?
It costed about 100AUD per night which was really cheap since we were sharing the apartment and splitting the cost.. you can search for holiday apartments in Australia at http://www.stayz.com.au/
It's pretty weird but nobody really stay in hotels at Surfer's paradise cos there's so many choices of holiday apartments, so much better than hotels.

We can cook ourselves with the kitchen in the apartment, free usage of washing machine and dryer (really grown fond of the idea of having a dryer while i was in Aussie. Love how my clothes are so waaaaarm freshly out of the dryer hahaha especially when it was so cold for me, I have super low tolerant for the cold.)

Washer & Dryer and a very clean toilet! *Thumbs up*

Kitchen area

Found this really interesting, Sam went to a nearby supermarket and bought some stuff to cook for dinner that night and he got this for breakfast the next day! Ready made M&M choc cookie dough, so you have to do is cut them and bake them and you get perfect yummy cookies. Woots!

Lol the apartment had a table full of shitload of tour brochures etc
Went to take a walk at the beach which was like.. 30 seconds walk away from our apartment building.

My life is complete. Hahahahaha

This seagull wouldn't stop staring at me! Don't it know it's rude to stare? haha I was just minding my own business reading my book on my kindle and enjoying the view and sea breeze yo!
Got annoyed by it because it kept walking nearer and nearer to me until it was like a footlength distance away from me wth, so i moved away and went to sit nearer to the beach. Kns kena chased away by a seagull lol i'm retarded.

Yay! Thoughout the trip i had Starburst Babies, i loooooove starburst babies. Muahahah so sick to eat babies i know but i got Jessica and Sam addicted too.

I honestly don't know how people can stand the coooooold!
Even when it's much sunny and warmer in Gold Coast as compared to Sydney i was still freezing and all zipped up in my warmest AERO hoodie. Told ya, zero tolerance for cold. Ended up catching a cold from chilling at the beach too much thou :x
Felt really idiotic when there are like topless dudes in front of me and all.

My perfect Day 1 in Gold Coast.

Cooking class at Palate Sensations

Just wanted to share how i spent my sunday with you all, it was Kexin's birthday and her boyfriend sam organized a mini 3 hour french cooking class at Palate Sensations.

Bunny photobombing me!

Palate Sensations
So we were ALL 7 of us were late, lol Sam called them and told them we will be late and they were very accomodating and shifted our class to a slightly later timing.

Here's where the magic happens! All the ingredients were well prepared for us etc.

Here we go! Kexin the birthday girl, Sam, Alfred, Ein Ein & I.

That's Charlotte, the executive chef who would be teaching us that day.
Charlotte asked who would volunteer to chop the onion and was like ME ME ME, why does everyone hate to chop onions? Hahaahah It's weird but i love chopping onions and garlic or whatever nonsense.

And we're in charge of the French Onion Soup! Soup chefs of the day. hahahah

Leave the chopping to me but leon's in charge of "sweating" the onions and standing infront of the stove for 40 mins to stir the onions while i hop around and help with the apple tarts and whatsnot.

By then everyone is so hungry, our soup was almost ready and everyone was grabbing a soup and tasting our soup non stop. So yums!

Helped with the apple tart and could not wait for it to be ready!

Done with the cooking and we had a table laid out for us at the outdoor sitting of the school and we can finally taste our cooking woohooooo!

French Onion Soup with a twist.
Instead of just serving the soup with grilled bread with cheese, we oven grilled the bread and cheese laid on top of the soup so the bread absorbs the soup, so yummy!

Chicken Provencal served with Parsley Potatoes

Ahhhhhh and the best if all, the French Apple Tarts!

These are SO good i think i had 2 of them. Thank god the recipe and will go buy some mini tart tins so i can make this at home soon, recipe gonna be up when i blog about that!

Awww! Sam made a tiramisu cake for Kexin! So sweet he said he learnt how to make it from Youtube. It's super yummy please!

Happy Birthday, Kexin!

Such an awesome way to spend a sunday. Cook our own food, eat our own cooking plus no need to wash dishes! Hahahah

Lol, he had a second tart too, so it's not only me who's a greedy piglet!

Makan Hunts: Dim Sum @ The Paramount & Dinosaur Live
Recently I've just been nuts about Dim sum & custard buns. Blogged about the delicious custard bun at Victor's Kitchen (click to read post) and Leon told me "Aiyah this is not even the best custard bun, I'll bring you to another even nicer one. That's really THE best custard bun"
Lol big claims! Hopefully it's as good as he claims to be uh!
Drove there and realized.. years ago i came here with him and his parents to have dim sum what!!! Chey, not a new makan place. hahaha an awesome dim sum place nonetheless.

So we came to The Paramount, it was about 12 noon and they were serving the dim sum menu yums, luckily we came just in time to beat the lunch crowd, after they were done serving all our dim sum we ordered the lunch crowd came rushing in. Phew!

Order! Order! Order! *bang fork*

Peach tea with some sort of sherbet on it and longan or lycee? I can never tell the difference haha

Oh I gotta say, this has gotta be the BEST Char Siew Puff I've EVER had. Even the ones i had when i was in a dim sum restaurant in Hong Kong. I want moooooooooore

Banana & crystal shrimps fritters. SO DAMN GOOD.

Red bean pancake with sesame seed. Bah this was only so-so, usually i would LOVE this dish but it's just OK.

Yay! My basic dim sum must have's!! Har Gao is SO yummy the crystal scrimp is so succulent. Hahahaha damn kiasu he ordered two basket of custard buns.

The custard bun here was like more salted-egg ish while the one at Victor's Kitchen is more custard-ish so it's sweeter!
I like the salted egg custard bun at Victor's Kitchen more but he prefers the one here.

Two extremely satisfied humans!

Lol, we went to Science Centre for the dunno 3rd or 4th time together. Wth we're crazy i think we like to drive all the way to Jurong, spend money to go there and see damaged science-y exhibitions.
Usually their science exhibitions always this spoil that spoil one la! Damn lame hahaha but our main motive there was to go check out the Dinosaur Live Exhibition

RAH RAAAAAAAAAHH!
Hahaha while leon was getting the tickets, i took a picture of the rear end and told him that the dino has a fine ass. And he didn't upload that picture. -.-
I think he scared the bone-y and bare dino feel shy exposing his fine ass on my blog.

CHA! This is the so-called chicken like dino in the dino times. Chicken wannabe dino so kawaii.

Woots, holy shit it's a bloody huge T Rex fossil.
Leon was like: "hey go there go there i take photo for you"
I replied: " Why in the world would i wanna take photos with a bag of bones?!" LOL!?
Hahahahahah, ok at the exit area there was a booth selling all the dino related stuff, dino rubber figurines, fossil excavating toys.. and.. GODZILLA?!?!!?!?

HAHAHAHA dino categorizing #fail.

Whoa just left the Dinosaur Live area and walking over to science center and we saw this. Fire tornado, they told us it was invented by one of the staff in Science Center. *round of applause*

We think that they have all these dodge-y cheat little kids money exhibition:

Poor kiddos all throw in no need to take back one!
Went to Imax to watch the "Amazing Caves" and it was awesome! Always love Imax, always a cool experience even thou the films or documentary are always damn old and the people in it always have 90's hair and outfits lol. two decades ago one zzz.
